Meeting with the Directorate of Domestic Politics at the Ministry of Home Affairs to Discuss Strengthening Academic Cooperation in Geography in the Field of Domestic Politics

The Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) hosted a courtesy visit from the Directorate of Domestic Politics, Directorate General of Politics and General Government, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The agenda for this meeting was to discuss the formulation of the scope of domestic politics as part of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ core responsibilities. The meeting served as an initial step in exploring opportunities for collaboration between the Faculty of Geography at UGM and the Ministry of Home Affairs to strengthen the development of regional studies and their implementation through domestic political policies. Commitment to Support the Improvement of Human Resource Quality, Welcoming the Cooperation Initiative from the Aceh Government’s Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM)

The Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) welcomed the initiative for cooperation from the Aceh Provincial Government. The Aceh Provincial Government’s Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) conducted exploratory talks on cooperation at the UGM Faculty of Geography on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. This cooperation will focus on strengthening human resource capacity through continuing education activities.

Discussions regarding future collaboration were held between a representative from BPSDM Aceh, Ms. Laila Musfira, S.Pd., M.A., and representatives from the Faculty of Geography, including the Chair of the Master’s Program in Remote Sensing, the Chair of the Master’s Program in Geography, the Head of the Domestic Cooperation Unit, and the Head of the International Cooperation Unit. read more

Support for the Development of the Karawang Regency Smart City Master Plan

The collaboration on the development of the Smart City Master Plan for Karawang Regency for 2026 is led by Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T., a Professor at the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who has experience in assisting local authorities with the development of Smart City plans. In its implementation, the drafting team was supported by a number of experts from UGM, namely Pradiptya Setyahadi, S.Kom., M.Sc., Anita Putri Anggraini, S.Si., M.Sc. and Tria Sofie, S.Si., M.Sc., and collaborated with representatives from Lambung Mangkurat University in Banjarmasin, Amandita Ainur Rohmah, S.Si., M.Sc. Some are alumni of the Regional Development Programme and the Regional Development Specialisation within the UGM Master’s Programme in Geography. read more

Faculty of Geography UGM Strengthens Ties with the Faculty of Geography Alumni Association (KAGEGAMA)

The Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) continues to strengthen its relationship and collaboration with the UGM Faculty of Geography Alumni Association (KAGEGAMA). This collaboration was also reflected in the Welcome Dinner organized by KAGEGAMA in conjunction with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, May 7, 2026. The UGM Faculty of Geography provided the venue for the event, while KAGEGAMA contributed to the event’s funding. This event served as an opportunity to strengthen ties among the academic community, alumni, and institutional partners. read more

Faculty of Geography UGM Expands Collaboration in the Field of Geo-AI with PT Abhimantra Sistem Solusindo

The Faculty of Geography at UGM remains open to research and collaboration in the field of geospatial technology development, such as systems based on Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (Geo-AI). This marks the start of a collaboration between the IT consultancy firm PT Abhimantra Sistem Solusindo and the Faculty of Geography at UGM. PT Abhimantra Sistem Solusindo held exploratory talks regarding collaboration at the Faculty of Geography, UGM, on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The meeting focused on plans to establish collaboration in the field of geospatial technology, particularly relating to data processing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the application of Remote Sensing. Representing the Faculty of Geography at UGM, Dr Sanjiwana Arjasakusuma, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr Nur Mohammad Farda, S.Si., M.Cs. were present and welcomed this initiative for collaboration. Plan to Strengthen the Coastal and Marine Management System by the Directorate of Maritime Services, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, through the Directorate of Maritime Services, continues to strengthen its efforts to monitor and manage coastal and marine areas. To implement this, the Directorate of Maritime Services is continuing its collaboration with the Faculty of Geography at UGM. This continued collaboration began with coordination and discussions on the development of a monitoring information system for land reclamation projects and the identification of structures and installations at sea using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) application between representatives from the Directorate of Maritime Services and the Faculty of Geography at UGM. The meeting took place in Room E503 of the Faculty of Geography at UGM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Dr. Nur Mohammad Farda, S.Si., M.Cs., was present at the discussion on behalf of the UGM Faculty of Geography. read more
