The Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), concluded its Remote Sensing Training Program for Indonesian Air Force personnel on Monday, 26 October 2026, at the Faculty of Geography, UGM. The 15-day training program, which began on Monday, 12 October 2026, was attended by 10 personnel from the Indonesian Air Force Geospatial Center, comprising seven men and three women. The Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held the signing of a Cooperation Agreement with the Yogyakarta Public Health Laboratory Center (BB Labkesmas Yogyakarta) on the implementation of the tridharma of higher education to support public health programs. The event took place on Tuesday (October 20, 2026) at the KLMB Building, 5th Floor, Faculty of Geography, UGM.

Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada, along with the Indonesia Agrichemical Research Institute (IARI) of PT Pupuk Indonesia, held a working meeting on Friday, September 18, 2026, to discuss the development and utilization of geospatial and socio-economic data to support the estimation of fertilizer requirements and distribution. The meeting discussed the utilization of remote sensing data and satellite imagery for spatial and temporal modeling of agricultural commodity planting phases. This information is expected to serve as a basis for estimating fertilizer types and requirements, while also supporting fertilizer distribution planning based on the location and timing of crop needs. read more

The Faculty of Geography at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) inaugurated three wells as part of its Community Service program: Provision of Clean Water and Irrigation Water in Three Villages in Purworejo Regency. The inauguration ceremony and the signing of the Implementation Agreement took place on Friday (September 11) at the Jombang Village Hall, Ngombol Subdistrict, Purworejo Regency.

The locations for the The Faculty of Geography UGM community service collaboration include three villages: Jombang Village in Ngombol Subdistrict; Sumberrejo Village in Purwodadi Subdistrict; and Sokowaten Village in Banyuurip Subdistrict. The provision of clean water is expected to support water availability for agricultural activities while also benefiting the communities in these areas. This initiative represents a collaboration between the Faculty of Geography and village governments in Purworejo Regency as part of efforts to enhance community welfare and implement the three pillars of higher education through collaboration among academia, the community, and local government. Efforts to strengthen environmental recovery continue through cross-sectoral collaboration. One such initiative is the partnership between the Faculty of Geography at UGM and the Ministry of the Environment/Environmental Management Agency (KLH/BPLH). This collaboration, entitled ‘Identification of Environmental Restoration Sites to Enhance Environmental Carrying Capacity and Resilience’, took place on Thursday, 20 August 2026 at the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). This event forms part of efforts to build synergy between the academic community and the government in producing studies and identifying locations with the potential and need for environmental restoration. The agenda for this meeting was to discuss the formulation of the scope of domestic politics as part of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ core responsibilities. The meeting served as an initial step in exploring opportunities for collaboration between the Faculty of Geography at UGM and the Ministry of Home Affairs to strengthen the development of regional studies and their implementation through domestic political policies. The Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) welcomed the initiative for cooperation from the Aceh Provincial Government. The Aceh Provincial Government’s Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) conducted exploratory talks on cooperation at the UGM Faculty of Geography on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. This cooperation will focus on strengthening human resource capacity through continuing education activities.

Discussions regarding future collaboration were held between a representative from BPSDM Aceh, Ms. Laila Musfira, S.Pd., M.A., and representatives from the Faculty of Geography, including the Chair of the Master’s Program in Remote Sensing, the Chair of the Master’s Program in Geography, the Head of the Domestic Cooperation Unit, and the Head of the International Cooperation Unit. read more

The collaboration on the development of the Smart City Master Plan for Karawang Regency for 2026 is led by Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T., a Professor at the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who has experience in assisting local authorities with the development of Smart City plans. In its implementation, the drafting team was supported by a number of experts from UGM, namely Pradiptya Setyahadi, S.Kom., M.Sc., Anita Putri Anggraini, S.Si., M.Sc. and Tria Sofie, S.Si., M.Sc., and collaborated with representatives from Lambung Mangkurat University in Banjarmasin, Amandita Ainur Rohmah, S.Si., M.Sc. PT Abhimantra Sistem Solusindo held exploratory talks regarding collaboration at the Faculty of Geography, UGM, on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The meeting focused on plans to establish collaboration in the field of geospatial technology, particularly relating to data processing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the application of Remote Sensing. Representing the Faculty of Geography at UGM, Dr Sanjiwana Arjasakusuma, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr Nur Mohammad Farda, S.Si., M.Cs. were present and welcomed this initiative for collaboration.
